Meet Dr. Tscherne
His Story
Dr. Richard is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with over 20 years experience in the field of disabilities.
Having cerebral palsy, he has overcome many obstacles. Because of his own personal journey, he strives to empower others with disabilities. He does this by changing their attitudes about themselves.
Dr. Richard is also a Shriners clown and entertains children with orthopedic disabilities and burns at the Shriners Hospitals in Boston and Philadelphia.
His memoir, "The Little Engine That Did It," reflects on how his disability empowered him to achieve his goals in life.
His life's purpose is to empower people both people with disabilities and those without so that they may achieve their own life's goals and realize, we are all the same.
He currently resides in Long Island, New York.
Dr. Richard John Tscherne speaks at Nassau Community College Students about understanding yourself and your place in the world and how the basic awareness assists you in dealing with others. This group is training to become therapist and Dr. Richard helps them to empower the people they are working with.
